I love this name! I think I like it better than Alex. My friends name is Alex so I always think of it more as a girl name than a boy's. Alec seems more fitting/masculine imo.

I love Alec.

I think it's a very sharp, very cool, very under-used nickname for Alexander. I would only use it as a nickname, though.

My sons nearly 5 and is called Alex, I think its become more common lately but not overused, I didnt know any Alex"s when i named him.
I dont like Alexander and i dont like Alec because of the lick sound and i think it sounds harsher than Alex.

I've always prefered Alec to Alex, as the X sounds harsh to me.

I don't like the name Alec because of the "lick" sound. Plus I knew a really creepy guy in high school named Alec *shivers up my spine*.

I hate it unless it's a nickname.

I love Alec, on it's own or as a NN for Alexander.

Erm, I only prefer the harder Alex and only as a nn for Alexander.

I am loving Alec right now, it's so simple, smooth, handsome, and has a Scottish flair to it. In a book I'm reading there is a character named Alec Campbell and he's really cool! :)
I definately like it better than Alex, I have heard of it being used as a nn for Alexander, but I personaly would use it on it's own or as a nn for Alistair! :)

I like it. I don't care Alex. It's way overused imo, but I like Alec and Xander by themselves or as nicknames for Alexander.

I like it well enough. But Alexander / Alex has saturated the naming poll so much since the 80's that I need a rest from it and, unfortunately, Alec.
