I would have pronounced it Zee-uh if you hadn't said differently. I don't care for it, it seems like half a name to me. Also, there was a really good Italian restaurant we used to go to called Zia's that closed down and I was told that Zia was Italian for "aunt."

Zaya or Zyah reflects your pronunciation better than Ziya, I think.
