I'd say the French pronunciation would be o-RHEN. I think the meaning might just have something to do with 'gold' (like Aurelius), though I could understand the interpretation of 'golden haired' if you compare it to Flavius for example.

Ah, your description of the French pronunciation is better than mine. That's the one I meant, though.I agree with you: I can definitely see the name being interpreted as "golden haired".
But I'm always a bit skeptical when it comes to (most) baby name websites; so many of them give misleading or downright wrong information. That's why I asked.Um, I'm rambling, sorry. I basically just meant to say that I agree with you on both pronunciation and interpretation.

Haha, that's okay. I try to stick by the BtN guide (http://www.behindthename.com/pronunciation.php). I'm quite skeptical about this one too though. I could see how someone could come up with this meaning for Aurenne, but I've never heard about it before now. I think if it is a name, it's a relatively new one.
