Anderson is not really my style- not a bad name, but I'm not a fan of surnames as first names generally. Also it reminds me too much of Blaine Anderson from Glee (not a bad association, just a big one for me.)

That aside, I don't think Anderson nicknamed Anse is weird at all. You could also use Andy, Anders, etc.
