[Opinions] Ohana
WDYT of Ohana? After some family drama last night, my SO and I were talking about how much I want things to be different when we start our own family, and suddenly all I could think of was Ohana and that quote from Lilo and Stitch, "Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind." I feel like using that name (for a girl) would be an awesome way to start new, with a family of our own. I'd probably use it as a middle name. WDYT of Ohana?

Ohana Punch
I live in Michigan, home of the Faygo brand of pop. Ohana is their line of fruit flavored beverages. Ohana Punch is everywhere. It's too strong of an association for me personally, though outside of Michigan people probably won't make that connection.

It's really pretty!
I like it as a middle name. It sounds namey, even if it's just the word "family". I'm not sure about the symbolism behind picking it-- family drama is pretty unavoidable and if you give you daughter a name with the meaning of "no drama in this family" behind it, and then there is family drama (because it's kind of inevitable), one of you might end up feeling weird about it. That said, if the drama you're referring to is something avoidable (other/worse than 'typical' family drama), then maybe that won't be an issue.
It sounds very pretty. I think it would make a great middle name! (I'd even support it as a first name, I think.) I like the meaning it has for you as well. All signs say "go right ahead".
Since I was introduced to it as a word, not a name, that would keep me from considering it as a name. If it actually meant "no one gets left behind," it could be namey. But it's just "family" - which includes families where there is drama ... and in my experience that's all of them! I wouldn't want to be middlenamed Ohana because I was supposed to represent a boundary between THAT family and this one. YMMV
It's a pretty word, though, and if I didn't know it was one, I'd think it made a pretty name. Hana is a pretty name, too. I wouldn't be worried about people saying Oh Hannah. You just correct them, and they learn. Tons of names are like that.

I really like it, it sounds beautiful and the idea behind is nice. I don't think that the name reminds everybody on "Lilo & Stitch", and even if, I think it's not a problem because it hasn't a bad meaning. If you're going to use it as a MN there are less problem with the "Lilo & Stitch" thing anyway.
So, IMO absolutely nothing speaks against Ohana :)

"Ohana means family"...(m)
And family means that no one gets left behind! It's pretty, but all Lilo and Stitch to me.

I love that idea, but as a middle name only.
I see people mispronouncing it as Oh-hannah.
I did think of the Lilo & Stitch quote immediately after seeing the name, so people will have that association with it, not the association you have. If you are okay with that, people always saying, "oh, like on Lilo & Stitch!" then I wouldn't say not to use it.
Also, imagine visiting Hawaii and having everyone look at her funny thinking, "Her name is Family?" I suppose its no wierder than people naming their kids Strength, Dignity, Hope and those other letterblock sayings people put up around their house.

Oh-hannah is an incorrect pronunciation? So how is it pronounced?
I'm ditto-ing Jemis. It sounds more like O-hawna.
Oh-hahna, with a long a
