[Opinions] Re: Whitley
Now after I've gone on about how much I hate surnames on girls in the below response, I will admit that there are a few--- a few ---surnames that I think sound more feminine than masculine, became standard for girls, and I think there's a reason for that. Whitney is one of those. I definitely see it as feminine. Definitely too feminine for a boy. And Whitley is even more feminine sounding than Whitney. So Whitley on a boy, no sir or madam.I do find Whitley too contrived, though, even as a feminine name, and wish that every girl Whitley was instead a Whitney. And wish that every boy Whitley had parents with some sense.

OuchI love both Whitney and Whitley on a boy. They were masculine names to start, you know. No more senseless than a boy named Ashley. Plus, nn Whit is hella masculine sounding if u ask me. I'd hate to be a female "Whit"

Ha, but I think a boy named Ashley is senseless, also. Ashley is another of the very few surnames that I think is too feminine for a boy.I agree that Whit is masculine and not feminine sounding, but I wonder how many female Whitneys are called Whit on a regular basis.

Most of the Whitneys I've encountered get called Whit quite a bit
