[Opinions] Lilah?
What do you think about the name Lilah? Is it too cutesy? Do you think it could age well? What middle name from my PNL would you pair it with? http://www.behindthename.com/members/47850

I think Lila is beautiful and I think it ages well. It's much more grown up than Lily. I am personally fond of the Indian pronunciation of Lila, but it'd probably be difficult to enforce, and I don't like the look of Leela. I wrote about my feelings about the H in a post below. From your list here are some combo ideas:
Lila Augusta
Lila Catherine
Lila Josephine
Lila Marianne
Lila Matilda

Not cutesy at all. I think it's rather beautiful with a hint of the exotic - reminds me of the Hebrew for "night" and totally usable, wearing well.
From your list these stand out for me:
Lilah Celeste
Lilah Hazel
Lilah Margot
Lilah Pearl - this is delectable imho

I don't like it for some reason. I guess I find it a little too cutesy but also a little…boring? I'm not opposed to cutesy if the name also has personality, but Lilah just seems dull to me and I don't know why. I think it just sounds very typical of a baby girl name in this day and age. Kind of unique, but not weird. Pretty and simple. Boring, boring, boring. I prefer Delilah, although I'm not even a huge fan of that name either.

No. I don't think of it as cutesy at all. Probably the name association thing, I'm sure. I grew up with Lila who was my mothers age, very large, and very bossy:)
However, I do like Leila. Don't ask me why. For some reason it sort of sticks out as a cute name. I doubt I would ever use it, but I like it. Maybe because it sounds like Leilani, which I also love, but definitely would sound too Hawaiian for any baby I would have- most names definitely transcend race/cultures, but I don't think it would work for me.
But back to Lilah. I don't care for Delilah, but I suppose the only way I would think Lilah with the "h" on the end would be to have a name like that and use Lilah for a nickname.

Eh, it comes off as a little flimsy to me, but it's pretty. I think it would age fairly well, although it's easiest for me to picture a little girl and an old lady named Lilah. Harder for me to picture a high-power working woman.Lilah Rosemary
Lilah Vivian
Lilah Frances
Lilah Bronwen
Lilah Josephine

I absolutely adore Lila. It's strong, beautiful, elegant, and powerful. I'm not even sure why I have that image in my head because Lila as a name sounds lilting and girly. But it just resonates strength for me.Lilah, on the other hand, looks horrible. Makes me want to say Lilahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Like a throaty, hoarsy, coughy sound. I prefer names to be spelled correctly.

The h seems totally unnecessary and makes the name look unattractive. Lila is okay, it's better than Lily but I don't like it as much as Layla.

I kind of like Layla too. I was going to say that I liked it in my response to LMS but I couldn't justify why I thought Lilah was boring and not Layla. Layla is fun to me. The Eric Clapton song "Layla" helps, I think.

I don't like Layla at all, so thats not an option for me. Do you feel the same about the h in say, Leah or Susannah? I'm trying to get a feel if you just don't like the extra letter on any name or Lilah in particular?

not Roxstar but I agree that I do not like the H, for me I think it looks really weird. And it's different from Hannah or Leah because those names are typically spelled with the H at the end, Lilah with an H is more akin to Emmah there is no reason for the H.

Lea looks incomplete without the h. Same as Hanna, though nothing could ever make me like Hanah/Hanna. Don't like Sara or Sarah at all either, the h does make me dislike it even more. Am pretty much neutral on Susannah, but do prefer Suzannah. Thinking on it, it seems just slightly more complete with the h.

I think the h on the end looks a bit awkward and unbalanced. I prefer the spelling Lila. I think it would age fine.

Spelt like this, I never know how to pronounce it. LEE-lah or LIE-lah. If it is the latter, then I slight prefer the spelling Lyla but only to avoid any pronunciation issues. I like both ways of saying it, I think it's cute but it can age well also. I also like the spelling Lila - but I'm not sure which I prefer.

I think it works alright as a short form of Delilah. I'd rather be Delilah called Lilah than just Lilah. But it's not too cutesy really.Lilah Celeste, Lilah June, Lilah Jane, Lilah Marianne
