[Opinions] Re: Emmett and Everett
in reply to a message by A
I love Emmett, after Emmett Till, the twelve year old whose murder was one of the sparks of the civil rights movement in the U.S. I also love the Emmet spelling, after Irish patriot Robert Emmet. I'm not usually a fan of surnames as first names. But these two deserve to be honored. Plus, the "em" sound at the beginning is very attractive. You might also like Emery, which is a variant of Emmerich / Emeric.Everett is a town near where I live. So it's hard to see it as a name. Plus, I always got it confused with (Mount) Everest when I was young. So it's always irritated me a bit. I'm much more fond of variant Everard, which I find comical and lovable, in a P.G. Wodehouse kind of way. That said, I still use Everett in combos, like Rex Everett, so I can't be that against it. :0)Which do I prefer? Emmett.
