[Opinions] Martella
Just popped into my head. What do you think of Martella? Too close to Nutella?

Never mind Nutella, I can't get past the fact that "martello" is hammer in Italian.
Where you are, no doubt it's just another blended name.
But in South Africa a teenage boy is about to be sentenced, having been found guilty of murdering an elderly married couple and murdering and also raping their young teenage daughter Marthella (ignore the -h-. It isn't pronounced.); the boy had lived in their home like a son. So it just seems totally sad to me, worlds away from cheerful Nutella.

I've met a number of African American boys named Martell; that's what it reminds me of.
I don't love it but it's fine. Recognizable elements (Mar-, -ella), logical sort of construction. I wouldn't be surprised to see it in real life.
On the subject of interesting Mar- names, I've met a Marvia and a Marveline before.

Reminds me of Martell and Marcella, but not Nutella. I think it's pretty good. Not something I'd use, but still good.
I was thinking hammer, like Charles Martel, martillo in Spanish. I suppose it could be too close to Nutella for some. Maybe if you wanted to honor a grandfather who was in construction?
Funny you say that, because my grandfather WAS a construction worker.
Maybe that's why it popped into your head.
My first thought reading it, before I even clicked on the link, was of Nutella. Then, I thought of a feminine form of Martin. Then, I said it out loud, and it reminded me of the word "cartel," specifically as in drug cartel. :\
Ditto. I quite like Marcella.
But now I'll think of Nutella, or a terrible combination of marmite and nutella = Martella. Oh gross.

Like Nutella you buy at Wal-Mart. Nutella is so gross, btw.
I do like Martina.
I do like Martina.
I tried to like Nutella, but I just can't. It's got that in-between chocolate and nut flavor, and it's gross.
I think it's geared to European tastes rather than American.
I don't dislike the flavor of Nutella, it's just that I can't really acclimate myself to the idea of spreading chocolate on bread, so I never buy it, and that's probably because I'm an American.
For what it's worth, my American sister loves Nutella.

I tried it on either pancakes or waffles, I forget which. It was so sticky and sickly sweet it grossed me out. I know some people put it on ice cream, but it was way sweeter than hot fudge sauce. IHOP offers crepes with Nutella and bananas.
Adding myself to this short list of people who don't find it very delicious. It's mostly sweetened palm oil anyway.
How do you say "Nutella" ?? Is it Noo-tella, like NuTone or nutrition? Is it NUT-ella, like a girly nut? Either way, it isn't a great name for the product IMO.

WHAT
Everything I know is a lie!!
In Australia, the UK, South Africa it is definitely nuh-tell-uh, because it's from a NUT. (Or something.) Or no one has ever corrected me.

I say"Noo-tella".I've never eaten it though.
I say nuh-TELL-uh, but I'm probably wrong.
Nutella didn't occur to me when I saw your heading, so I don't think it's too close to Nutella.
I kind of like it, because it has a sophisticated air, but it also seems foreign to me, like it's German, which makes it hard to relate to.

seems Italian to me, if anything
In facto, martello is Italian for hammer.
