1. No-elle
2. Eph-rum
3. Kee-ar-uh (different than your choices, but I have heard both of yours as well).
4. This one is tricky. I met a mom of twins in which one had this name. I asked her if it was Lou-sha or Lou-chee-uh. She said Lu-see-uh. Eh. I think all three go but I prefer Lou-chee-uh.

Thanks! The one I knew would answer to Ee-phrum or eh-phrum.

No-elle and no-well sound the same when I say them. Hmm. I guess I'm aiming for no-elle.Eph-rumSee-air-ruh, I think. I actually went for Kee-ar-a first, not sure why.Lu-see-a.
vote up1
The Irish way is Keer-uh or Kee-ar-a, so I think that's what you were thinking of. The "American" way tends to be See-air-uh, which is what I use. :) Thanks!

No-elle and no-well sound the same to me? I don't emphasize the W, but it does appear - I don't break the name up into two sounds. I run the vowels together. It doesn't rhyme with "oh, well" ... it has the same sound as if I say "there's no elevator"
EF-rum
kee-AHR-a
loo-CHEE-a, or I guess loo-SEE-a. Never loosha

Thanks! I don't emphasize it either, it just happens. :)

They are the same for me unless I really focus. Lazy tongue. :D Thanks!

1. No-Elle and no-well sound the same in my accent. A w sound appears in between the No and the Elle even if I try not to say it.
2. I say it more like Eph-rum.
3. I say kee-ar-a. I know one Ciara who pronounces it Sierra, but that's sort of a nickname. Her parents named her kee-ar-a but her grandma always called her Sarah for so
reason, so she hybridized it into Sierra. I don't think it would nory make sense today Ciara that way though (I was confused be her name until I heard the story behind it).
My second pronunciation for Ciara would be keer-a.
4. Lu-see-a

Thanks! I would be confused, too, ha ha.

Except for Noelle, I don't pronounce any of them like either of your choices.Noelle --- No-WELLEphraim --- Ef-FRY-emCiara --- See-ARE-aLucia --- Loo-CHEE-a

New pronunciation of Ephraim for me. Never knew there were so many differences. :) Thanks!

My pronunciation of Ephraim is probably just plain incorrect. And I have no occasion to say it, actually, it's just the pronunciation that goes through my head when I see it. I've never known anyone with the name---if I did, and they used one of the established pronunciations, that would probably change.

1. no-elle
2. sorry, but, ew, neither. eh-free-eem, or something like that. Maybe like eh-free-im, not sure. I don't care if it's the correct pron. or not, it's the only one I think is anything short of hideous, and the only one I've used and liked.
3. keer-a. I don't accept the latter as a genuine pron. If you want that, use Siara, Siera, Ceara or whatever. Ciara is an Irish name and not said like that. Ciar is not see-ar, and Ciaran is not see-ar-an/seer-an, so there's only one logical pron. of Ciara for me.
4. lu-chee-ah or lu-tse-ah, I've only ever heard Lucia said one of those two ways. I think they're both kind of nice. I don't like Lu-see-uh and lu-sha is awful, so, I have to pick a third choice once again.Sorry for being harsh! I'm not trying to be mean, promise.

Thanks! Never heard Ephraim pronounced like that, or the second pronunciation of Lucia, so more notes. ;)Yep, I hear both sides for Ciara. Personally, Ciara = Sierra, and Keira = Keera. I will never be able to shake that, ha ha.

1. Noelle (No-elle or no-well) --- these both sound the same when I say them lol. But I guess I'm inclined to say the first. Noel, however, is NOL.2. Ephraim (Eph-rum or ee-phrum) --- ef-rəm, wasn't even aware the second was a pronunciation3. Ciara (Keer-a or See-air-ruh) --- I'd say I'm 50/50, both seem accurate. If I met someone with the name, I'd say it both ways and ask which they prefer tbh Though I think with Ciara I lean more towards see-er-ə4. Lucia (Lu-sha or Lu-see-uh) --- loo-see-ə definitely, or loo-chee-ah. Gah, do people say loo-sha? Ick ick ick (and yet I'm cool with Lucian being loosh-en, even if I do prefer loo-see-en)

I am guilty of saying Loo-sha. I love the way that sounds. :) Thanks!

It sounds so much like "lush" to me, which makes me think of drunks. Bleh, not a fan lol

Noelle: no-EL
Ephraim: EF-rum
Ciara: KEER-uh
Lucia: lu-CHEE-ah, because it's my favorite, or lu-SEE-a because it's the one I actually encounter the most. I hate LOOSH-a, so it's never my first guess.
vote up1
Thanks! Seems like Ciara goes either way, and Noelle is pretty straightforward. But again, loo-chee-ah? I guess that's because of the "ci"...

1. No-EL (both options you listed sound the same to me)
2. EF-rum
3. KEER-a
4. LOO-sha

This is what I'd say... number two is almost certainly incorrect, but I've never seen the name before, so.
Capitals meaning the syllable is stressed :)1. Noelle (no-EL)
2. Ephraim (eh-FAR-eyem)
3. Ciara (key-AH-rah)
4. Lucia (LOO-see-uh)
vote up1
I've never heard Eh-far-eyem before, thanks!

1. No-elle2. I'll be honest…I would've said Eph-raim because I don't know how to pronounce this name. Of your two options, I think I would've been more likely to say Eph-rum. 3. See-air-uh4. Lu-see-uh

Gracias, Hola. ;)

1) no ELLE
2) no idea!
3) KEER uh
4) loo CHEE uh - the only people I've ever met with the name have pronounced it this way. One was English, one Italian.

Thanks! This loo-chee-ah proonuciation keeps coming up...why have I never heard it before???

Noelle: I'm not sure of the distinction you draw here. You can't help but make a w sound when you say Noelle, or at least it doesn't seem so to me.
Ephraim: I guess Eff-rum. But I've never had the need to say this.
Ciara: I know that to be true to the Irish origin of the name you should say Kira, but it's most often pronounced Sierra here. I even once heard somebody say it See-Ahr-a.
Lucia: Loo-see-a. I only even consider Loosha because somebody I worked with years ago went to St. Lucia on their honeymoon and said it St. Loosha.

I've heard Ciara said see-ahr-ə too, usually in reference to the singer. I don't think I've ever heard her say her own name, and like half the time she's introduced as see-er-ə and the other half the time she's introduced as see-ahr-ə lol

When someone enunciates, then I hear No-ELLE, but otherwise, I hear No-well. Thanks! I've heard that pronunciation of Ephraim, and I've only ever heard Ciara pronounced this way. Loo-see-ah looks fine to me, but the way it rolls of my tongue feels strange. Thanks!
vote up1
1. No-elle2. None of those, for me it's more like eph-ray-m.3. Keer-a4. Neither, it's loo-chee-ah for me.
vote up1
Thanks! Never heard the loo-chee-ah pronunciation before, thanks!

It's the Italian pronunciation (and the Swedish I think - St Lucia's Day is pronounced that way, at least). Like Francesca in Italian is Fran-ches-kah.
vote up1
I see. That's the only way I say Francesca as well...how else is it pronounced? Frances-ka?

Thanks! Never thought about Ephraim being pronounced Ef-raym, thanks!

Well I've never heard it in real life so I just pronounced it like it looks and if I saw "ai" anywhere else, I would assume it was pronounced "ay"

Noelle is no-ELLE (very pretty name!!)Ephraim is eph-rumCiara is see-air-uh (though an argument could be made for Keer-a, I suppose)Lucia is 100% lu-sha. HATE lu-see-uh
