Hmmm. Are you French? Does the person's comment surprise you because
Léandre is in the top 500 in
France, or somewhere else? I'm slightly confused...
But anyway, I am not French although I do speak the language a little. I don't think
Léandre sounds ridiculous when said in French sentence, but pronouncing
Léandre correctly in an English sentence is kind of weird to me. So changing
Léandre to
Leander when speaking English might sound better?
If the person was neither French or living in a French-speaking country, I'd probablyy go for
Leander.
