When looking up Ethelwyn the other day I noticed how amazingly popular
Ethel was in the 1880s & 90s. It was top 100 right up to the late 1930s here, and seems to have had a pretty good run in the US, too. There were a whole bunch of variants: various spellings of Ethelwyn, Etheline,
Ethelinda,
Etheldreda / Ethelreda / Etheldra - even a few Ethelburgas.
Datedness aside, does anyone like it or find it an attractive sound?
And have you ever met one, or had a relative with the name?
