Help[Opinions] Rudyard (+)
I found out my copy of The Jungle Book from when I was a child earlier and I've decided I'm going to re-read it in the coming days, but of course I got thinking about the author's name. If I were contemplating it as a first name I'd soften it up with the nickname Rue, but I think it might make for a good, unexpected middle name.
What do you think of Rudyard? Do you think it's usable at all?
+ What are your thoughts on Caspian Rudyard? Not sure on the second middle as of yet.

The name is pretty awesome, but I can't use it as there's a town in Michigan that I know of. Just can't use it.

Yeah...I would stay away from the name of the man who wrote "The White Man's Burden", but that's just me.
The name itself is too hoity-toity for my taste. So is Caspian.

Love Rudyard, but mainly as a middle name. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against it as a first name, I just think that it somehow shines more in the middle spot, bringing something mysterious and quirky to the table. Plus, I think that you could make a lot of handsome combos with Rudyard in the middle spot.
Like Caspian Rudyard. That combo is pretty much perfection, in my opinion. Very handsome! Nice job.

Hehe, thank you dear! I think I rather agree - it seems to be much more effective, as it were, in the middle spot.

I love the nickname Rudy, and dislike Rudolph, so I've always had Rudyard as a GP in the back of my mind. I think it's pretty snobby and over-the-top, but also fun and silly and literary, so basically it's perfect.

I think Rudyard is cool, but not particularly usable. If it was a family name I give it a pass, but I doubt it's anyone's family name. Otherwise I think it sounds uber hipster.
However, I do like it hypothetically, and no way man, Caspian Rudyard is a combo of mine from years ago that I've always really loved. A+!

Ooh, Kipling is interesting! I don't know if I could ever get behind it, though, as there's a cake/pastry company with the name.
Does Caspian Rudyard feel over the top because it's too much name, or because there are two literary references? With the latter, I do have Bram Nathaniel Wilde as my #2, so that doesn't matter much to me personally.

I think it's because both names are quite unusual. Usually if one name in the combo is uncommon then I like to have another more classic name with it to balance it out, so something like James Rudyard or Caspian David. I also can't really imagine Caspian being used in real life, although I see there were 30 born in the UK last year so there are several of them out there! I can only imagine a Caspian to be a prince in a fairytale or children's story - but that is probably just because of the literary character. :)
