[Opinions] Re: Carey or Kerry (for a boy)
in reply to a message by Falconette
Thank you for the mostly encouraging response. I was a bit nervous that I would get a lot of "no it's too girly" responses even though I would have had to disagree. Although I prefer the Carey spelling written down I am leaning a bit more towards Kerry based on the responses. I can see a lot of potential for Carey to be confused with CARE-ee or Carrie, and Kerry seems to be easier for most people to relate the way it is said to the way it is spelled.

I agree with a lot of people that Cary is a great spelling. It looks more like a given name to me than Carey. Carey makes me think of the surnames of Drew Carey and Jim Carrey.
Cary vs Kerry I have a hard time deciding between. Both are great masculine spellings. Cary seems less like a surname than Kerry because I know of more men who use the spelling Cary as a fn. Cary reminds me of Cary Grant and Cary Elwes. Kerry I like the look of and it still seems like a fn to me even if I can't think of many guys who actually have it as a fn. The more I think of it the more I lean towards Cary but Kerry is a close second.
