Help[Opinions] Rollan
What do you think of the name Rollan (pn RAHL-in)? It was my great grandfather's name and lately, it's been growing on me. Do you think it would be confused with Roland? Or misspelled/mispronounced on a regular basis?
I'm leaning towards Rollan Charles as a combo.
I'd love to hear any opinions on the name.

Pardon my dense-ness, but what does the Roll part rhyme with? (I'm so bad at those phonetic pronunciations.)
When I saw Roland, "Rol" sounds like roll and troll.
That would have been my inclination with Rollan as well - to basically say "rollin'" like "rolling" without the g. So if that's not what you are going for, I'd say that yes, it would be mispronounced often.

Yes, the Roll part would sound similar to doll, tall or crawl

Then I'd either be prepared to correct people (not a terrible thing, just depends on your personality) or maybe spell is Rawlin.

It looks like it could be said like "rolling." I read it that way at first. And yeah, I think people might connect it with Rolland / Roland, even if they don't exactly confuse it.
But if I were you these things would not really bother me enough to stop me from using it. I like the name. Correcting name pronunciation now and again really isn't terribly humiliating, as long as there's enough connection between the pronunciation and the spelling that it makes sense.
