[Opinions] Sadhbh
My coworker Jenny named her little girl Sadhbh (pr. Saiv). Now we are in Ireland, but she did immediately spell it for me, so it's not that common. Any opinions? Also, now at work I sit next to, across from and diagonally from a Jennifer.."Find what you love, and let it kill you." Charles Bukowski

I like the sound and meaning. You couldn't get away with using it where I am, cause no one could pronounce it. Maybe the anglicized form Sive. Jennifer's just one of those names I've never appreciated. As your anecdote illustrates, it was just too popular for too long! I love the nickname Jennie, though.

I love the sound of Sadhbh, it's completely unpronounceable where I live, people can't even figure out Siobhan. Is Jennifer really uncommon in Ireland? I know so many Jennifer's I basically just assume most women between 20-40 are named Jennifer.

Oh no, in Ireland it's quite common. Same as Canada / US.
I was born in the Netherlands, and I was the only Jennifer I knew there. Then I moved.

I kind of like it. It's short and sweet.
I don't care for Jennifer. But I was born in the 80s in the US. Everyone was Jennifer or Allison or Heather or Megan. No lie, I have 16 Jennifers listed in my phone contacts. Just way too popular for me to ever consider using it. Nice enough name, just overdone.

Seeing it written, I would've guessed "sahv".
I know that in Irish "bh" = "v" and "dh" is generally silent (yes?) but I don't know that much so don't know why the "a" would make an "eye" sound.Anyway, I quite like it. It's not my favourite but it's sweet.Jennifer... Jennifer is okay. Wasn't it crazy popular in the US at one point? I read a book (A Fine And Silent Place) that seemed to think so.
The sound of it is quite nice. I prefer Genevieve though.
