In Japanese websites, the name of the character
Tamiko (in the movie) is written in katakana (phonetic script) as タミコ, which by definition means it has no meaning in that particular instance.
However, 民子 "people" + "child" is certainly a possible meaning of the name.
It's also possible for
Tamiko to include the character mi 美, "beautiful." But I don't think "flower" can be any part of it.
