Help[Opinions] Berry
I girl just checked my out the receipt said Barry. I'm not convinced it was HER name since she jumped on the register after someone else, but it did get me thinking about a female Barry/Berry. I personally like Berry best for a girl as it seems more unisex. And I kinda like it... Wdyt?

Three things immediately came, overlapping, to mind when I read your post...
1) The *sound* of Barry/Berry as a name is too associated with the masculine name for me to think of it, or feel it, as a feminine given name.
2) The spelling, Berry, and the imagery it brings to mind feels too feminine to be used as a masculine given name.
3) "What a cute, though non-intuitive, nickname for Bernadette!" (The Berry spelling)

I was served by a waitress named Berry once. "Like Strawberry," she said. I assumed she said that to distinguish her name from the name Barry.
I thought it was eccentric, but okay. Not nearly as bad as Peaches or Apple or Plum. The only bad thing about Berry is it reminds of the male name Barry, and Barry seems about as appealing as Dick these days. But that's not so bad, because Barry is a rare name. The image of a generic berry is not all that food-y... it just sounds happily naturey, without seeming too edible or sensual. I don't think Berry would make a good name for a man at all, though. That would seem sort of funny to me.

Barry would strike me as totally masculine - which technically makes no sense since "a" is usually atributed to female names. Maybe it is like Vivian versus Vivien in this case.
Anyway - I totally prefer Berry and think it could be a sweet name. I mean, if Plum, Clementine, Holly and Elder can be names... why not Berry. Plus it's darn cute.
Berrie would be even more sweet (but not sure if that would be too sweet).
My sister calls my daughter Berry (Clary-berry usually), so I have no trouble imagining it as a legit moniker.
