[Opinions] Myranda
Yes, I took the spelling from the kennel master's crazy daughter from "Game of Thrones". I usually don't think of Miranda much, but this spelling spices it up a bit. What do you think? Do you like Miranda at all? Willoughby wolloughby willina, an elephant sat on Billina.

See I really like Miranda, but then when I see it spelled with a 'y' all I can think of is a psycho. :-)So... no, not a fan. Sorry.

I love love love Miranda and the Y can't ruin it for me. I'd rather see Myranda than many another.

Never liked Miranda, always thought it put me in mind of a know-it-all, show-off intellectual-snob kind of girl. Myranda just looks weird.

Hmmm, Miranda. The nn Mandy puts me off it, but... Mira is cute.
Myranda! I like it. I love 'y' spellings, but they're too often seen as tacky. That's why I cling to Lydia and Sylvia so dearly. :)

The only time I don't like 'y' spellings is when it isn't the normal spelling. I like Lydia and Sylvia, but in Myranda, it looks wrong and changes how I say it. I want to say 'my RAND uh' instead of 'meer AND uh'.

*shrugs* Y spellings feel more natural to me, because it's how most things are spelt how I am. 'I' spellings often make me want to say 'mee', because that's how 'i' is pronounced in Welsh. So I tend to like 'y' spellings.

I like Miranda. A lot actually. I took it off the possibility list after Sex In The City got popular, and never thought to put it back on. It's probably time. I do not like Myranda though. I feel like it takes all the soft pretty out of Miranda and makes it too much. It's unexpected really, since I love Myra. Altogether though, Myranda just bothers me a little - SORRY!

I adore Miranda and would probably have used it if my dh hadn't despised it so much. I find it to be a shimmering jewel. It's near perfection as a name. I love the meaning as well. OTOH, variant spellings don't look nearly as attractive to me because part of the appeal of Miranda for me is the way it looks. I've seen Myranda, Meranda and Marinda and they do nothing for me.

Wouldn't Marinda be pronounced differently? I would say it ma-RIN-dah.

That's true. I was just speaking to the matter of people changing the spelling for whatever reason. Marinda DOES sound odd to me, but I can also see how it could be easily confused for Miranda -- especially if said quickly.
