[Opinions] Dynasty
The name of a friends newborn niece, and a new one for me.
At least they spelt it right?
Her surname also begins with a D, so overall it's very comic book character to me.
Plus her initials are Double D.
Thoughts?

I don't like it. I think of really old people, the TV show, and I think of it in the same realm as names like King and Princess.
It is somewhat in the same vein as Goddess, which I posted about a few days ago. Very tacky.
Absolutely horrible.
Tacky, tacky, tacky.
At the moment, Dynasty reminds me of Duck Dynasty, which is not a good association for me for several reasons. I don't like it as a name, though I don't think it is any worse than many of the word names that are out there, and I think it fits well into that vein.
This was a name of a character on the UK TV series, Waterloo Road. The character was likeable so I can kind of see it as a name.
It's not my style, but as you say, at least it's spelt right :)
The Double D initials are unfortunate and not greatly thought out by the parents, but each to their own

Even trashier than Destiny.
Dynasty should have a sister named Dallas, and brothers called Knotts Landing and Falcon Crest.

Or just Knotts and Falcon.
I know a woman who has a brother named Dallas.Oddly, they come from where I live, extreme eastern Canada.

Their niece is named after an 80's prime time soap? Break out the shoulder pads and cat fights.
Her initials are Double D. Do you know how flat a double d is? I'm one of 3 too well endowed females in my family, and I'm hoping the N cup I ordered online is the right size. I wish I was a double d and able to find bras my size in stores. Also, I'd say her initials are D. D., or Dee Dee. Dee Dee is much better.

I don't like it, but then I've never liked Destiny as a name either.
"it's very comic book character to me." - interesting that you get that impression, because from what I've seen most actual comic book characters tend to have very normal names like Elizabeth, Katherine, and Jane. At least for their real names. Dynasty sounds like a superhero name chosen by a teenager trying to sound cool (Storm, Starfire, Karma, Jubilee, Armor, Polaris, etc). The repeated initial thing is an entirely valid point; it always looks at least a bit silly, even in comics.
Dynasty also feels like an awful lot of pressure put on a child: "You're our legacy; it's up to you to carry on our family, uphold its honour, etc." (I think this is also my main problem with Destiny, actually.)

Really unattractive. Wasn't it the title of a famous 1980s soap?
She also has the word "nasty" in her name...
It is interesting word name though.
