How weird...I was thinking about a post involving Kathleen/Cathleen;I prefer Kathleen, maybe because my name begins with a K, but probably because K names are awesome.I think it's more feisty than Katherine / Catherine and has a more interesting sound.
I also like Caitlin, with the original pronunciation, which looks lovely.

I don't mind Kathleen, but only with a k. Personally I do prefer Katherine though.

I used to dislike it as an -een name (dated) but since figuring out that it's Caitlín written phonetically, I like it. Much better with a C. I don't like it more than Catherine ... maybe a tad less because it still seems a little bit like a dead fad.

I enjoy Cathleen with this spelling. I'm not sure if I prefer it to Katherine/Catherine. I like the nn Kate/Cate but none of the long versions have ever been favourites. They're just nice, boring, classic names.

I don't like it at all, but that's probably due to a negative personal association. I much prefer Katherine/Catherine.

Cathleen is my middle name! And I think it's pretty, and a breath of fresh air from Katherine and Catherine.

I used to dislike it because of an association, but in the last few years I've begun to like it. I wouldn't say I like it more than Katherine/Catherine, but there are days I might prefer it. It has a slightly more upbeat feel to it.

I like it much more than Katherine. Funny, Katherine and Catherine are both pretty common, but I don't think I've ever seen Cathleen on a person.

Kathleen is fine, but I prefer Catherine by a pretty wide margin. I don't like the Cathleen spelling, but Katherine is okay.

I love Kathleen, but I prefer Katherine/Catherine.

While I do not prefer them to Katherine or Catherine, I think both Cathleen (my preference of the two) and Kathleen could be refreshing on a child. Not as a middle name, though. I see it as an auxiliary filler middle name.

I love Cathleen's rustic, unpretentious charm. So befitting of a rosy-cheeked lass (especially with the nickname Cath)!

Love Cathleen, in this spelling.

No, I like Katherine/Catherine way better than Kathleen/Cathleen. Post WWII America had to have everything new and shiny, not tried and true antiques, and that's the only reason that Kathleen/Cathleen took off at that time.In high school, I knew a Cathy whose full name was Catherine but it was often assumed to be Cathleen and it annoyed her.
