As for the spelling, I dunno... I don't really like Zia/Ziya no matter how you spell it, but what makes it difficult for me to decide is that
Ziya looks a lot more arabic than
Zia (even though they both are) while
Zia looks like a girls name (maybe because I know a girl named Sia?).
And to be perfectly honest, I don't think Zia/Ziya sounds that good with your surname either, but in the end it's up to you guys.
