I think at least for a while, air freshener is still an issue, regardless if the company changed the name. Smell something, someone still sprayed some Glade. I don't even watch TV and I will always think of that. It's the only familiar use. Nobody uses the word except semi-poetically.
It's namey. But, it puts me in mind of -ayden and -ady trendy sounding names (Brady, Grady), before I think of a naturey word. The word is feminine IMO and it reminds a little of Gladys visually, so I think it would be a slightly better girl name. But it's surnamey enough that it could be either.
