[Opinions] Re: Valor or Valour
in reply to a message by Anon
I like Valor as a man's name. On a woman, I think it's too on-the-nose. It's almost ok - it's almost like Rebel, which IMO is fine for a woman - but because of the chivalric, knightly, slightly violent (military medals for valor in battle?) image I have of the word valor, I think it comes across too gendery and makes too much statement. YMMV, I don't hate it, I don't think it's radically unusable. But that's why it doesn't appeal to me.I prefer the spelling Valor for a man, as I live in the US and that's how the word is spelled. Valour would seem pretentious on an American. However for a woman, the name seems flakey enough that I think Valour would make it look better.- mirfak
