Valour is too visually similar to velour. I think Valor is okay, though it strikes me as a more masculine visual (sound could go either way). I tend to relegate most less conventional virtue names to middle name status personally. I prefer Valerie, to be honest, but the names give a completely different feel. I really don't see one as alternative to the other.
