[Opinions] Janus

Lennart and Janus are a great pair, I know... Naming twins is so hard. I get to use two names I love instead of one, but still I can't decide. There are so many names I love, and I have to compromise with Kurt. I'm also very much aware that this is my last pregnancy, so it's my last chance to use any name I love. I already had a hard time accepting that I'll never be able to use Hester or Olive, so it feels like I'm saying goodbye to some of my favourite names. Is this weird? It probably is.

I had to say goodbye to any more girl names too, since I'm not getting pregnant again. Part of me wished I would have twins just so I could use more names! (though a much greater part is glad of less work :P)
You may very well pronounce it that way, but we don't ;-)
Honestly, I just can't see it. I knew a family who named their large dog Janus because they wanted him to "look both ways" when woofing at possible intruders, so that image sticks. And your pronunciation doesn't help, because although they said JAYnus, your way is the Latin way, so the meaning is still obtrusively there.
I am not a fan. I just can't get behind a name that so prominently features the word anus.
Unfortunately, most of the name is "anus", which seriously puts me off.
Also Janus is a "two faced God" which doesn't seem like a particularly good association either.

I don't generally like God/Goddess names for kids. It just seems egotistical. And if its not from your own religion, it seems presumptuous, like naming your kid after a foreign country. Using it as a middle name would be as far as I would go personally.

In English-speaking countries, it doesn't work, because it's very apt to be mispronounced the way my name, Janice, is pronounced, and my name is a well-known feminine name. In a non English-speaking country, I think it's cool.
