'Usable' isn't the same as 'a good idea'. I know a
Damaris who is always and only DAMuhris, and I've never heard it any other way. Some names do accommodate two pronunciations - So-FIE-a and So-FEE-a, for instance, but not
Damaris.
However, in a world where otherwise sensible people take
Xavier and pronounce it Ex-Ayv-i-er, as though an avier was something currently outdated, why not? Pronounce it any way you like; just be prepared to do a lot of explaining.
