I am going sailing this weekend. Today I got a call from the guy in charge of the class. His name is Wind. WDYT?

Why not Vind? I guess he wanted to be more international and didn't realise how unfortunate Wind actually is.
Vind is nice. It has an old Norse feeling to it and seems more like a name.

I can't really comment on how it works in Swedish. In English it's awful because of all the ways the word wind is used. If I try to imagine the word wind is used exclusively for strong breezes, though, I could see it working out. Eccentric, but namey. Like Clint or Vince, and like Bear or Ocean.

Given that I know his last name (nothing out of the ordinary), I found his middle names on birthday.se. They are both very common Swedish names. So I still think he picked it himself. I might have to ask when I meet him this weekend.

Here in Italy 'Wind' is a telecom operator (mobile phones, Internet...). So I can think only about this link.
