Rilla is the nn for the name Rilian prn REE-lee-un or ree-LEE-un which is German for small stream or brook. It is a name of a character in The Chronicles of Namia by C.S. Lewis.

I think it sounds incomplete. It could work of Amaryllis, Priscilla, Verilla, Drucilla, pretty much any name with -illa and an r.

I'm considering using it as a nn for Mariel, if that helps.

I think it could stand alone... But I think it could be a nn for Amaryllis, Emerald, Maral, Mariella, Marla, Merla, Mirela, Mirella, Ariella, Aurelia, Orli, Orla, Orly...

I've never heard of Marilla. Rilla ia full-fledged full name possibly meaning "stream, brook" in German, at any rate, and I really think it could stand on its own, rather than being a nn for some made up name.

I think that Rilla can stand on its own, personally. I can't think of anything that it could be a nickname for ... but I do like the name!
