Help[Opinions] WDYT of Cassian?
I'm starting to like this name even though it's way different from my normal style. I was wondering what you guys thought of it. I think the name does have two major drawbacks, though:
1. The character Cassius in Shakespeares's "Julius Caesar". Most High School kids read that play eventually, and Cassian and Cassius are a lot alike. It would probably be rather embarassing to have a name just like that of the bad guy that ends up comitting suicide in such a well known play.
2. This isn't a big deal, but do you think Cassian has any nns other Cass, ect. Cass and Cassie and such seem kind of feminine.
Also, what do you think of Cassian Lucas and Cassian James?

I like Cassian, as long as it's pronounced KASS-ee-an as three syllables (as opposed to KASH-un, which I dislike). I probably wouldn't use it in real life though ... too likely to bring teasing, being so romantic.

About Cassius and Cassianus: Cassianus would have been the surname of a boy adopted into the Cassia family ("gens"). For example, if Marcus Cassius or Calpurnia Cassia adopts Aurelius Pontius, he becomes Aurelius Pontius Cassianus, or Aurelius Cassianus, depending on the type of adoption. A girl would become Cassiana.
I definitely would avoid Cassian, Cassius, etc... because of the character in the play... but mostly because of the real guy who murdered Caius Julius Caesar. He was a huge as*hole (sorry to say that about someone who is dead, but yeah...).
Last thing, if you finally name your kid Cassian, don't call the second one Brutus. :) :) :) :)

I like the sound, reminds a bit of Muhummed Ali the boxer, whose birth anme was Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. and I am sure an early civil right activist was also Cassius Marcellus Clay.
I dont think having a name in literature would be so bad, my name is Anthony and their is Marc Antony very similar.
As for your combos I like Cassian James, because it is a safe middle name if the child doesnt like his first and I am not a fan of Lucas at all.

as for nm's ummm..
what about Ian i know usually nicknames are like the first part of the name like cass but i think if you like ian you could try to emphasis it ,like pronounce it cass-IAN??????
