I came across a couple of Edlas in my family and found it very charming as a name. Edla was quite a trendy name in the 19th century Finland and now its popularity has slowly started to rise again: people probably associate it with
Tilda, Hilma and such vintage names.
By the way, the "
Ed" in Edla isn't pronounced as shortly as in
Edna or other English names starting with "
Ed": the stress on the "EH" sound is held a bit longer.
So, what do you think of Edla? Which names would you match it with (Edla as a FN or a MN)? Also, do you prefer it to Effia (another rarity in my family tree)?
