[Opinions] Re: Carrie
I prefer Caroline with no nickname, but I do like Caroline nn Carrie a good bit. I knew lots of them growing up in the nineties. For some reason, Caroline was ultra popular (still is) in my hometown and it was always used in full or with Carrie as a nickname. I think the Carrie nickname thing has died off with this generation, though. My name is Caroline and I've thought about naming a daughter Caroline and calling her Carrie. Ultimately, I always dismiss it because this is such a WASPy custom (giving the daughter the same name as the mother) and I am no WASP. Also, because Carrie could be confused with Kari, Kerry, Cary, etc. etc., and I don't like alternate spellings. And only as a nickname. Because it's been so familiar to me my whole life, I didn't realize it was dated to the 70s.
