[Opinions] Re: Shalom
Shalom for anyone seems silly. Yes, the meaning is good, but it also has another, more everyday meaning, which is as a greeting (Hello and also Goodbye). I love it when my Jewish friends greet me with Shalom, but hearing it on a person would be odd. And, it's unusual as a given name, and I'm willing to bet that people hearing it would think they were hearing the more familiar Sharon instead.I could be wrong, of course. Do you know any Israelis you could check with?

I agreeI haven't even heard the greeting in real life, but it's engrained in my mind as so, and the idea of it as a name has always sounded strange to me.
