[Opinions] Chloe, easy
I'm already partial to Greek names. And I already think Riley (especially with the original spelling) is more masculine than feminine. It's curious that your friend is torn between the two names, because I recall, as a kid (when I was a big fan of the Olsen twins), watching Mary-Kate & Ashley play twin sisters named Riley & Chloe on *two* separate shows / movies. Please rate my personal name lists:www.behindthename.com/pnl/69381

I was wondering why this combination of names seemed so familiar to me! I just googled the Olsen twins after reading your comment and I remember watching the series (called 'So Little Time'), I loved it so much! I remember thinking back then that the combo was so odd because Riley is so surname-ish/unisex and Chloe is so classic, feminine and sweet. I haven't seen the other show in which they play characters with these names. Back then both must have been kind of stylish and new.I don't think it has much to do with the Olsen twins because she's in her early 40s so I guess she didn't really grow up with their movies.Ohhh and I always thought Mary-Kate and Ashley was an odd combo for twins too. Not that I mind, just something that I noticed. Mary-Kate seems very 50s and Ashley is really 80s trendy.

So I never knew who those were for the longest time and whenever I heard "Mary-Kate and Ashley" mentioned in passing, I thought it was three people named Mary, Kate, and Ashley (which sounds like a better combo; Mary and Kate separately sound more neutral and less 50's).

Wait...she's in her forties??? Wow, good luck with the baby, then! lol (I'm not trying to be insensitive; I'm genuinely shocked)

You are right about the twins' real names, with Mary-Kate seeming rather 50s and Ashley being on-trend. Their younger sister is Elizabeth, so it would actually seem like Ashley is the odd one out of the sisters (with a name more trendy than classic).I also looked up Mary-Kate, to see if that was actually a nickname for Mary Katherine (nope, it's her legal name), and... I had no idea that former French president Nicolas Sarkozy is her brother-in-law. Wow.And I'm glad you found the name of the show! On the show, Mary-Kate played Riley and Ashley played Chloe. But in their movie "Winning London" (which I loved as a kid - they're in a United Nations type competition), Mary-Kate played Chloe and Ashley played Riley!

Mary-Kate and Ashley for twins, tired as Ashley is, is still better than the identical twins I knew in college -- Mary Kate and Mary Beth.

Isn't that a Catholic thing? Multiple people being named "Mary something" and then just going by the "something"?

My friend Sam is Maria Samantha and her three sisters are all Maria __________ and go by the middle name. I think her three brothers might all be Juan ___________? I can't remember. Literally none of them ever ever go by their legal first name.

Yes, I think so, but they didn't just go by their middle names. They were called Mary Kate and Mary Beth.

Oh wow :/ Did they go by Kate and Beth? Then it wouldn't be so bad. I know a family in which all the daughters share a middle name which is also their mom's middle name.

No, they were always called Mary Kate and Mary Beth. I'm not sure if it was Mary Katherine and Mary Elizabeth on their birth certificates, but my feeling is it wasn't.

My mom knew identical twins in high school named Jan and Jane ... ugh!!!

Not as bad as those, but today, I heard sisters Anabella and Isabella.

I know some sisters named Emily and Amelia and I heard someone say it was a bad combo, but only because they thought Amelia came from Emilia (I just checked and it's actually from Amalia so they were wrong :P).

You made me curious so I googled again :PThey are:James Trent (goes by Trent)
Ashley Fuller (very unisex with that middle name)
Mary-Kate (I guess she has no middle name?)
Elizabeth Chase (again really unexpected middle name)Makes me wonder whether one of their parents really liked classic names and the other was really into trendy names and they compromised somehow :POh wow I didn't know one of them had gotten married :O but it makes sense they are 31 now. They are older than me but I still remember them like they were on the show, I haven't seen them anywhere lately. I always looked up to them when I was small, they were so cool :)Interesting that they used these character names twice! If I remember correctly Mary-Kate was the tomboy and Ashley the girly girl :P I remember a movie in which Ashley played a girl named Jane and Mary-Kate a girl named Roxy. I loved it! ahhhhh childhood, I have so many nice memories watching their stuff I also loved the other show they did in which they used their real names.

Fuller is their grandmother's maiden name. Can't find the explanation for Chase atm though. There's also two half siblings, Jacob "Jake" and Courtney Taylor (who goes by her middle name, which is also her mother's maiden name). And speaking of people who are into trendy names, their stepmother was born Martha but goes by McKenzie now.
