I think Donovan is a handsome name, to be sure. It's currently in my Top 10 for boys. I've only ever come across one baby boy named Donovan (no nickname), and that was over a year ago, so I don't see it as being "trendy" at all - though Donovan does fit in with a lot of other currently popular names enough not to stick out like a sore thumb.

It probably is considered quite trendy where I live (UK), and I'm not a fan of trendy surname names (with the exception of a few). But in addition, I can't stand Donovan because of a character I really hate. I don't see the appeal.

This name has actually been on my mind lately. I like it, I think it's very handsome. It fits in with the trendy names right now but it itself is not particularly trendy... I'd picture one being between 10-30, approximately. I'm from the Midwestern US.

I love Donovan but hate the prospect of "Donnie" and feel like "Van" isn't intuitive enough when Don is so ripe for the picking. Donovan had a bit of a preppy vibe I think. I'm picturing a lacrosse player at a private school. It seems pretty on par with current trends without being trendy. I'm in the American Midwest/south. Also, my first association is the singer (...they call me mellow yellooooow...)

I've been fond of Novan for Donovan since high school, as I've never been keen on the idea of Don/Donnie either. Since Donovan sounds more like don-oh-VIN, it would be pronounced like no+vin, not no+van. But that's probably less intuitive than just Van! LOL.In response to Felie, I like Donovan, although perhaps not quite enough to use these days. Sometimes, I think it may be a bit dated, but it also seems like it could follow some current trends. I'm from the Southeastern United States.

It's dated where I live, quite uncommon, but not really weird. I live in east-coast Canada.

I absolutely *love* this name! Donovan to me is an extremely attractive, handsome classy\classic, FRESH sounding and uncommon and will age well.
I prefer it over the, although decent but extremely overused Jonathan\Johnathan.
The first time I heard of the name was when I watched some British show a few years back and I instantly fell in love with it. Instantly. Donovan is within my top 3 boy names and I would consider using it, even as a middle name but unfortunately, the name isn't usable to me. I love the name but isn't likely that I see myself using it. This, due to the slightly similar name of DONald. Not only because of the Trump association but also because of another Donald I knew. For personal reasons I won't bother to get into but because of that man I knew, I fail to myself using any name containing 'Don' it just wouldn't seem right.I'm from the Northeastern side of the U.S and the name, at least to my general knowledge is extremely rare in my neck of the woods. In fact, I'm sure there are plenty of individuals who have never even heard of the name before.

I'm not a big fan of it. I can't quite pinpoint what's off about it, or even the sort of person it makes me think of. It's not particularly kind or intelligent. The only one I know is the young son of a cousin. They're sort of nerdy-artsy people, but I wouldn't say I see it in that context. Said Donovan and his parents live in the Midwest, US (as do I, but a different area of it).
