I don't dislike it, and I feel like I should like it more since I love similar names like Lavinia and Verena. Maybe I just need more time to roll it over in my mind. It will probably grow on me.

It definitely could have its place in literature: an ideal name for a sadistic queen in a fantasy story like Game of Thrones. It also sounds like it could be a type of rock; a name I would have had to memorize (easily due to my grapheme-color synesthesia; it comes in handy for remembering these types of names) in psychical geology. It reminds me of the word venereal, though, given similar syllable distributions.I wouldn't be comfortable using it because it honestly does sound too much liked a wicked fantasy character, but these combos please me best given my aesthetic preferences:Varinia Frances
Varinia Margaret
Varinia Marguerite
Varinia Mary

I love it too. It's on my PNL. I think it's what you say, "an antique gem".
