[Opinions] Icy
I found this girls' name in the submitted names database. Do you think it would work on a person?

Eh - it's not for me, but that may be because it makes me think of a cat named Icy I found on petfinder recently. I'd rename that cat.

It's nms, but sure, it could work. I grew up with girls named Stormy and Misty, and people name their kids Winter and Sunny. Icy doesn't strike me as much different or worse than those.

no, it wouldn't ...It works great on a drink though. Sisters Icy and Slushy and brother Big Gulp.

There's an Icy in my family tree but it was short for Isadora. I don't think it works as a given name

No! Not human at all. Maybe OK for the last of the polar bears, before climate change kills them all off.

I see...Nope :) It sounds more like a NN for a cold / bitchy person.

No, not at all. It’s cold, harsh, has no history of use as a name. Just no.

No-doesn't sound like a name
-but still manages to sound too nicknamey and informal
-doesn't sound aesthetically nice
-not a great meaning - emotionally cold connotations, and while, say, Snow can be seen as positive (soft, gentle, pretty) ice is more negative (sharp, hard, dangerous)
-can't even give it a workable nickname
-Do Not Like

Cute as a nickname, too much of a negative connotation when it comes to interpersonal interaction to be good as a long name.

Maybe if it was a middle name or short for the initials I C, but not especially as a first name.

I like it, there was a game called Icey, not that long ago, with the main character named Icey!

I like it in a guilty pleasure sort of way. I wouldn’t use it as a name but maybe as a nickname. I recently came across a baby Icelynn and although Iceland (what I assume was the inspiration here) sounds nice...there are some words that just sound silly as given names, although they sound pretty otherwise. I like the “ice” sound though; if anything, I’d choose an old favorite of mine, Isis. However, I don’t think that name will be useable again for some time...if ever.
