Oddly, it does that to me too - even more than the name
Olive. And
Oliver makes me think of olives in martinis, particularly - rather than just olives. Probably because the name
Oliver was very unusual when I was growing up, and when I heard it I connected it with the word because there wasn't much else to connect it to. And I first encountered olives in martinis, too. My parents' martinis, that is.
It's not what turns me off the name - I just don't like the sound of it in my accent. Sounds like all over, I'll love her, all of her.
