I found this fun name while I was doing some genealogy research. My 6th great-grandmother Anchor Fox was born in New Jersey in 1729 to English immigrant parents. The story is that she was born on the ship while it was anchored at port, hence the name. Her other siblings had more boring names. What do you think? I think it has a nice sort of hipster aesthetic to it. Do you think it'll be the next big trend?

I think it’s okay for a boy and for a GP only. I can’t imagine it on a girl.

I immediately thought of "anchor baby". I don't see it becoming a trend, and I don't like the sound.

Yeah, it does have a sort of hipster aesthetic. I don't like it, but it makes a cool unique name for your ancestor.
I'm afraid I'd think "Anker" on only hearing it as a name - sounds too much like anger and canker. But knowing it's Anchor and a woman's name it doesn't seem so bad.
Except maybe for the phrase "anchor baby."

I hope not. It seems hokey and too much like a faux obviously meaningful name (she’s the Anchor, so let’s call her that!).

Sometimes "boring" is better.
Anchor sounds very mannish, cartoonishly so, like maybe Popeye's brother or something.
And the randomness of it is depressing. Like, the other kids all had to be born someplace too, but they got "boring" names, and she just happened to be born at anchor so woo-hoo, her name is Anchor! What if she'd waited a few days and been born on land?

I kind of love it. It's a nice meaning and it does fit in with trends. Was Fox her surname or a middle name?

It was her surname, I don't have any record of her middle name or if she had one.

I already know a baby of a hipster named Konrad Anchor. It probably will get a bit of use for a while. I think it's cool as a gp.

That is fun, especially with the story - always great when one child gets a wacky name due to interesting birth circumstances. I rather like it too.
