[Opinions] Ivoire
I just came across this name in the Reddit thread listed below and it immediately struck me as intriguing. I'm surprised that it seems to be extremely uncommon in the Western world, when its English equivalent Ivory has been an established name since at least the 1880s. You'd think that it would regularly have inspired some parents to opt for Ivoire instead of Ivory, but apparently not!https://www.reddit.com/r/lastimages/comments/9d6z5x/my_sister_ivoire_a_few_days_before_she_passed/You can also find her obituary if you google "Ivoire" combined with "obituary", which reveals her two middle names, both of which are also French.Anyway, what is your personal impression of this name? :)

It's pretty!
Am I pronouncing it right, or close to right - "Eve- WAHR"?
I feel it's just a little too French for someone like me to use ... kind of the way that Antoine or Victoire is. So I still like Ivory better, in terms of favorites. But Ivoire is cool. I'd never heard it before.

You're close: the pronunciation is ee-WAR. :) See also its IPA key: /i.vwaʁ/I understand what you mean - the name is French in a rather heavy way, instead of a lighter way like e.g. Odette. It indeed makes the name a bit clunky for use outside of francophone countries, but it's still a lovely and somewhat quirky name. I'm growing fonder of it the more I think about it! :)

I think its loads better than Ivory. Also, if no one wants to spend the time googling is Ivoire Marie Clothilde.

Gorgeous combination, isn't it? I feel like it's the sort of name combination that you would expect on a French aristocrat from about the 18th century. Very classy and dignified!
