[Opinions] Selma

The only Selma I know in real life is an Arabic speaker (British nationality)
It's cute, if a little frumpy.

I adore Selma. It’s dark and rich and syrupy.
I like the name, too, despite the Alabama reference. That is just unfortunate. I'd expect her to be a a capable, no nonsense beautiful woman who can handle just about anything life throws her way. She lives in the southern United States, Texas, maybe, and doesn't mind hard work, dirt, bugs, kids, etc. Haha! I'd want my daughter to be like Selma.
Hi !!!
I love the nane Selma!
It is a simple but very elegant Arabic name!
I'd expect to meet a Selma from Marocco as I know that their Queen has this name in the form Salma... a Northern African country anyway.
I much prefer the spelling Selma than Salma or Salima.
So...a great name!

I get a few associations in my mind when I hear it. The politically-charged Alabama town, Aunt Selma from the Simpsons, and the word “salmonella”.
It’s got a bit of a back-of-the-throat sound when I say it, so it isn’t my favourite. I’d group it with names like Beulah and Bertha and Gerta.
