[Opinions] Re: Vanellope
in reply to a message by Felie
There was a discussion on Vanellope around the time Wreck It Ralph came out on this board, most people hated it. Honestly, I’ve always had a soft spot for it. It sounds elegant and pretty to me, as most names with “el” in them do.
I’d love it on a pet. Skeptical about it on a human, but I think I’d like it.

Hi !!!
I agree with you.
Despite being a madeup it has surely a better sound that Penelope.
I like it because it reminds me Vanilla (of course) but also 'velluto' (velvet in Italian).
All together these links make it a creamy, soft name. Obviously the character is far from it and that is the real problem. If the character were an elegant, beautiful princess the name would fit her but in the movie she denied any princess-y link.

I actually like Penelope, lol! The velvet connection is beautiful, I bet more people would find it appealing if they had the same link to it. I haven’t seen the movie, which could obviously alter my opinion.
