[Opinions] Enea (Aeneas)
Hi !!!
WDYTO Enea?
It has fastly increased in popularity in Italy reaching the position #44 of most popular name given to babies in 2016.
Do you think that it is worse or better than Aeneas?
Any MN suggestion?

I love Enea, and have always been intrigued by how it seems so trendy in Italy. Why do you think it's gotten popular all of a sudden? I think it's a lot cuter and more modern sounding than Aeneas. It feels like a still-surprising update on names like Enzo and Luca, which have caught on outside of Italy. (I think Elio and Ezio are more likely to catch on than Enea though, tbh.)
A few Italian combos I like, curious how these sound to your ear. I like it with a big, bold middle name.
Enea Saverio
Enea Vittore
Enea Vittorio
Enea Salvatore
Enea Baldassare
Enea Vincenzo
Enea Luciano
Enea Roberto
Enea Corrado
Enea Calogero
Enea Donatello
Enea Raffaello
Enea Ferdinando
Enea Francesco
Enea Giordano
Enea Girolamo
Enea Gustavo
Enea Lamberto
Enea Ludovico
Enea Marcello

I think I prefer Aeneas, simply because I spent a solid year analyzing the Aeneid.
I prefer Enea to Aeneas, but since I'm not Italian it's a bit academic - I'd never use it. And anyway, I can't say I ever warmed up to Aeneas, as Virgil depicted him: no personality that I could ever detect! And trying to apologise to Dido in the Underworld ... what a cheek. I'm so glad she didn't let him get away with it.
Hahaha, all fair points. [m]
I'm always so torn when I like the sound of a name, but the mythological character was kind of unbearable. The Iliad really killed Paris for me.

This is my first time hearing it. I like it a lot, and I like it better than Aeneas.
