The Big Bang Theory definitely ruined the name. I've always hated that show, especially because it gets so much wrong about nerd culture. I'm honestly surprised it's still on.

I agree about Big Bang Theory. It sounds like a surname to me, though, more then a first name and I don't know why.

I love the BBT/Young Sheldon character, but hate the name. Too surnamey for my taste.

I think they made a quip on Young Sheldon about it being a common Jewish name the other day. Sheldon phoned a Rabbi for advice about converting, as many of his favourite scientists were Jewish. The rabbi gave him some fantastic advice, but not before teasing him about his name.

It's too much Sheldon Cooper for me as well, but I do know someone who named their bunny Sheldon. And I think the name is alright and would be pleased to meet someone named this, just not my own kid.

Sheldon is tied with Big Bang Theory yes! I'm a fan of that TV series and I have not other ties with this name, just Sheldon Cooper. It Is a positive link in my opinion. He is my favourite character there... But I would not choose It in real life.
On a pet is lovely! A kitten (his favourite song when he is ill) or a goldfish (like when he created a bioluminescent one) but not a bird ahahahah.
