It seems dated to me. I don't like it. But I do like Layne.

I read a novel once where they mentioned someone named this, and one of the main characters said 'Wayne? Might as well have tattooed 'never finished secondary school' on his forehead', and I've never been able to forget that line. Also seems to be a lot of serial killer's middle name.
Sounds like wane and even the meaning is dated. I do like Gwaine / Gawain, though.
Hi !!!
My first thoughts are: cowboys, gunfighters, bandits, rangers, ranches and saloons (all together).
I think that the meaning fits these images very well along with John Wayne of course.
I know this is a stereotype: all is Western or 'South' is just because the movies. But I don't know any Wayne so I still stay with this images.
I rate Wayne 6/10.
I think it has a very different vibe from Owain or Dwayne.
Dwayne seems intellectual to my ears: someone Who knows a lot of things who read tons of books or that Is a genius, like Sherlock Holmes or Zuckerberg. I mean something scientific but that is not in a laboratory.
Owain instead is Medieval, knightly, Welsh and strong (thanks to Owain Glyndwr my only link with this name).

It’s a dad name to me. I can’t really picture it on anyone under 45. It’s loads better than Dwayne, though!
It's got a Wild West vibe, but it's friendly and approachable. I've only ever met one Wayne, and it suited him. I guess I like it because it's familiar but unpopular.
