It was my brother's favourite name when he was really small; for that reason, nearly all of the chickens or ducks we've ever owned have been called Louis, and I just can't separate it from that.

I really like the name. I pronounce it as loo-ee, I see it as a different name to Lewis. I like both Louis and Lewis but if I had to pick between the two I'd pick Louis.

They are absolutely different names though Lewis is a medieval English form of Louis and sometimes used interchangeably by English speakers (at least when it comes to pronunciation) so I was curious to see which was preferred.

I like Lewis. I expect Louis to have the French pronunciation or something close to it: silent -s definitely, unlike Lewis.

Not a name I'd ever consider. I prefer Louise, though probably not enough to use.

I personally prefer Louisa to Louis (which I prefer to Lewis) but I definitely see where you're coming from!

I'm in the year born 1999 and in school Louis (pronounced Louie) was the most common boys name in our grade. I like it :)

I think Louis is a very solidable name. Very classic and respectable. I immediately pronounce it as lou-iss. Louis with or without the nn louie
I prefer this spelling the best as 'Lewis' is commonly seen as a surname. I can't as easily picture it as given name. Plus, I think Louis just looks nicer

I think Louis looks nicer as well and prefer that spelling but I wasn't quite sure how others would be pronouncing it and which spelling / form of the name is preferred.

I like Louis very much!! It is simple and regal.

I pronounce it in French (LWEE) or at least loo-EE.

I like Lewis too but I pronounce it something like LYOO-is. I don't know if it is right but it seems ok.
