Ready for a comeback? My boyfriend and I were talking about names and he brought her up. Not typically my style, but growing on me. WDYT?

I’ve loved it ever since reading Nancy Drew books. I would love to meet a young Nancy!

I just saw a Nancy (via name tag) about half my age or less (I guess?) within the past two weeks: I didn't have time to mention my enthusiasm.

It has a certain vintage charm. On the other hand, it sounds so nasally to me. I always want to say it in an over-exaggerated Midwestern accent.

I like it a lot! I think it's sweet and adorable. At one point I was considering Annemarie for a daughter with Nancy as a possible nickname. I think on its own is better though. Bright, cute, and fun.

I like it as a nickname for Anne names.
I know two girls named Nancy, funnily enough - one with sister Bess (I don't think they're actually Anne and Elizabeth, but I suppose they might be) and one with brother Fin; I can't remember their other sister's name.

Nancy has never been widely used where I live, so there are no associations. (I'm aware of the late Mrs Reagan, and Ms Sinatra, but not in any detail.) I've always liked it very much and would like to see many more. It doesn't seem like a nickname any more, but it would be fine as an independent name in its own right.

I don’t know why, but I have always had an irrational hatred for the name Nancy! I love Nan, but Nancy is a no-go for me.
It seems to be popular where I live, though. I live in Vancouver and I’ve noticed it being a rather common name among Chinese-Canadian families. Last week in storytime, there were three little Chinese-Canadian girls 3-5 years old, named Nancy out of 16 kids. Without fail, I always have at least one Nancy in my storytimes.

I think it’s sweet. Seems to be mentioned a lot on name sites, especially in the UK. I think it has big throwback potential.
Edited to add: Betsy and Betty too. They might follow the popularity of Josie and interest in Nellie.

Among Hispanics, at least around here, names like Nancy and Brenda and Karen are much more popular than they are for non-Hispanics. That's where the big jump in popularity will likely be, if there is one.
It's a friendly kind of name, but not my favorite of the middle-aged sort of names. I'd much sooner use Sherry or Linda or Susan.

I like it, but I don't think it's ready to come back in the US, at least. It peaked in the 40s, so right now it's a grandparent name. I think it'll need another couple of decades, minimum.
