[Opinions] Julian or Malcolm
These are the names that we are considering for a boy. We're not trying yet, and in fact I'm not sure if we even will. But we are thinking about it.Also, thoughts on Paul and Adam? My daughter's name is Miriam.

I prefer Julian to Malcolm. Paul is bland, but Adam is a fantastic name, one of my favourites, and I think it goes the best with Miriam.

I love both Julian and Malcolm, they are both in my top 20 for boy's names. Most days though I slightly prefer Malcolm, the name sounds strong but also has a small amount of softness. Julian is softer but it has some strength. I picture a Malcolm as being a little impish or roguish but also someone with strong convictions unafraid to speak his mind or act when it is necessary. I imagine a Julian being a little more shy than Malcolm but not unsociable, I imagine him being very cute and an artistic dreamer sort of person. The only slight negative I can see is that Malcolm and Miriam are a bit similar but they probably aren't too similar since they don't contain the same number of syllables and the middle of the names are different. That said Miriam and Julian are a bit similar in their endings and number of syllables.Adam I like and I don't have any negative feelings towards the name but something about it just feels a little bland to me for some reason.Paul feels very bland to me and very dated to me. Also I dislike that it is only one syllable, I'm very picky towards one syllable names and there are only a few that I love.

Malcolm and Miriam feel a bit matchy to me just with the beginning and ending Ms but are so stylistically different it strikes me as okay. Malcolm seems impish to me, but not in a bad way. Julian for a boy just never seems sturdy or strong to me. I think of sickly aristocrats with little regard for others. Blessed Julian of Norwich is an amazing connection though.
Paul is sweet. Its my dad's name and I think in certain accents it seems a little clipped, while in others it's quite warm. We have neighbors Paul and Paul Jr. "Paulie" and I'm a pretty big fan of it on a little one.Adam is just okay. It's a good name, but it has no interesting quality to it for me.

I see you know I would use Julian!I just don't know why my husband dislikes name Julia. I think Miriam and Julie would be a fabulous sibling set but he is dead set against Julia.I'm really liking Blaise atm. It's popped up now and tgen on my lists.

Malcolm!Malcolm is one of my very favorite boy names, and has been on my list possibly longer than any other currently on it. I love Malcolm, and Mal is a great nickname. I also think Miriam & Malcolm sound more like siblings (though Julian is nice).I like Adam, and I've known some nice Adams, though I'm not very enthusiastic about the name. Don't like Paul at all though, sorry.Malcolm Elliott
Malcolm Emory
Malcolm Harris
Malcolm Isaac
Malcolm James
Malcolm Owen
Malcolm Ronan

JulianI love all forms of Mary (whether Miriam, Maria, or Marie); I'd use Adam to be more inclusive to the Judaic nomenclature.

I like Julian, and Adam is fine but quite boring. I like Julian the most with Miriam, all the other combos sounds like a married couple in their 50's

I really like both. I think I'm leaning more toward Malcolm as a first name right now though. Not a fan of Paul, but Adam is nice. Malcolm Adam doesn't flow very well though. :/

I like Julian, like Paul more, don't mind Malcolm and dislike Adam! But, I'd prefer Miriam's brother to have a name that isn't three syllables and ending in -iam or -ian, and I'd also prefer a name that does not start with M.Speaking as an only child. I think you should give it serious thought. My kids have learnt so much from each other that I never learnt alone.

Malcolm! Malcolm! Malcolm!!! :) I love it. Julian is fine, it’s a nice name, but I vote Malcolm.Paul, I don’t care for. At all. It’s a bit too dated and just kind of blah. Adam is my brothers name. Nice, but, also blah.

I'm sure I've answered this before but why not again.
I like/love both.
I think Julian is more of a fit-in name, sounds like a more popular guy, could be a jock but sounds laid-back. Kind of like Ryan (was when it was hip and not overused), or like Alexander for that matter. Malcolm is stylewise a little more like Miriam - less expected, but too conservative to seem outright hipster. I met a family at the park with a little blond boy named Malcolm and thought it was so awesome. I hadn't realized until seeing it as a kid's name, that it would work as a kid's name, and that it sounded pretty warm and friendly. It also sounds substantial/important compared to more playful or characterish names like, say, Max or Malachi. I can see why people think it's clunky - Miriam is too - but IRL they're not annoyingly clunky, like Myrtle or Mordecai is clunky.

My husband really wants to try, I don't. Thinking about names is keeping me peaceful while I try to decide. If my daughter wasn't so intense it would be easier. We both keep wondering what life would have been like without the seizure, something I'm ashamed of.I like your interpretations.

As a pair with Miriam, I like Paul the most. Paul is just as kind and warm sounding as Miriam.Adam is sterile to me, but I think a that's a specific quirk I have because of people I've met with that name.Malcolm is my favorite of the bunch. It's equally strong and soft.Julian is rich and haughty, I still love it but I don't think it works as well as the others with Miriam.

Julian all the way. On a boy, it's sophisticated, strong, and respectable.
I don't like Malcolm. "Mal-kum" & "Mal-kim" sound weird and "Mal-coalm" trips my tongue up.I like Adam more than Paul. But neither are really my style, as they are so short.

I love Malcolm. I would use Mac as a nickname, but I like it without a nickname too. Julian is super whiny to me. Paul is fine, though I don't find it particularly interesting. Adam seems okay, but the more I hear it, the more it sounds like a-dumb. :(
