What do folks think of the first name Casper?
Husband gets to name our second son and really likes this name.
I hesitate because A) Our last name also begins with a C so it would be "Casper C...", and B) It's similar sounding to our first son's name, Hector (with the "er" sound on the back) and thinking the two sound too much alike.

It's a fine name, but the association with the ghost character is unfortunately a little too strong for my taste. I think our children's generation will be able to use it for their kids, but the Casper movies are still just a little bit too recent.
As an aside, I love Hector!

I like Casper/Kasper, and were really considering it for my son (I even called him this name for a few weeks while pregnant). I don't think the surname or his brother's name are any problems. I like Caspian as well though, maybe that could be an option?

I love it when it's spelled Caspar. The -er ending looks weaker to me.
I think alliterative names are memorable so I wouldn't hesitate to use Caspar C.
I think Caspar and Hector (or Casper and Hector) sound great together, and aren't too similar at all.
But I'd change the cat's name, or at least start calling it Jaz instead of Jasper.

I like Casper, I prefer it spelled Caspar, but Casper is good too. Casper C. wouldn't be reason enough for me not to use it.
Casper and Hector sound a bit alike, but not so much it would stop me from using it if I really liked it. I actually like that they're roughly similar sounding names with very different origins.

Other than being two syllable names ending in R I don't think Hector and Casper sound anything alike, the second syllable is different to my ear.
I really like Casper, its handsome and underutilized. I used to think it was unusable because of the ghost, but now I think that's a fairly outdated reference and it's really not a bad one anyways.
Casper C doesn't bother me.

The only Casper I have any sort of connection to was a Casper C. He was my grandfather's stepfather. It sounds old-timey, about somewhere between Walter and Oswald. I like it more than Caspian but less than Cassius.
I prefer when sibling names have different sounding endings, so they'd be too similar for me personally, but it's not so glaring a similarity that I'd take notice or be bothered if I met brothers Hector and Casper.

Strong masculine name. I always love when a first name starts with the same letter as the last name.
