King Theodore and Queen Estella were wedded this year in a lavish ceremony attended by nearly the entire country! Theodore has been groomed for the kingship since infancy, ascending to the throne nine months ago when King Leopold was striken with a disease of the mind, losing his memory over the course of several years until he was no longer fit to rule. Estrella is from the royal court--not quite of royal blood, but raised in a royal family. Much to the chagrin of the royal advisors, then-Crown Prince Theodore, fell in love with her! Queen Estella is a fiesty, fiery woman who has her own opinions about nearly everything--but Theodore thinks that will make her a valuable asset to the kingdom.
Year 1:

King Theodore has successfully faced the first major hurdle in his rule--early in the spring, large groups of protestors gathered in London and several other large cities to protest the unfair taxes being levied on imported goods. King Theodore took the protesters seriously and set up a meeting with those in charge. Queen Estella was also in attendance at the meeting, and had some good ideas about how to relieve the citizens of some taxes, but maintain revenue flow to cover the cost of importing most items.
Year 2:

The entire kingdom rejoiced when Queen Estrella's pregnancy was announced this year--the entire kingdom was later devastated when news of her miscarriage spread through the land. If the King does not produce a male heir, inheritance will fall to his younger brother, Crown Prince Charles (who is not nearly as politically inclined as his brother and is unlikely to be a good ruler).
Year 3:

Though an heir to the throne hasn't yet appeared, Queen Estrella convinced her husband to set some money aside for scientific research. After only eighteen months of funding, a new theory was proposed regarding agriculture and crop yields--which will benefit the people greatly because less money can be spent on importing enough food to feed the people!

Rumors are starting to fly that Queen Estella is infertile, but King Theodore is unconcerned. Though the kingdom will still go to King Theodore's brother Charles if he dies, Theodore has been contemplating proposing a rule that would allow the eldest child of the family (whether a male or not) to succeed to the throne if the king should pass.
